Volunteer: Library Tech Tutors

Hennepin County Library is looking for volunteers to assist library patrons (primarily adults and seniors) with their computer and technology questions during Tech Help Tutor programs at multiple library locations. The service helps patrons improve their basic computer/smart device and job search skills through one-to-one assistance.

• Assist patrons with logging in and navigating a computer or smart device (smartphone, tablet, e-reader).
• Help patrons securely navigate the internet (connecting to Wi-Fi, signing up for online accounts, logging in to email or social media accounts, and changing passwords).
• Assist patrons with common software (i.e., Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
• Guide patrons in using library resources and technology (e.g., e-books, printers, scanners).
• Support patrons with job search assistance: resumes, searching the internet for jobs, and job applications.

• Ability to communicate with a wide range of people and break down technology and job-related topics in an accessible way.
• Basic understanding of technology or willingness to learn, including navigating smart devices (smartphones, e-readers, tablets) and common software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc. (Nice to have)
• Ability to speak another language in addition to English. (Nice to have)

Training is provided by the Program Coordinator, with supervision by a designated Hennepin County Library staff member.

This is an unpaid, volunteer position. No benefits are earned.
