Classification: 0003 Seasonal/Fair, limited to 67 days per calendar year if working over 14 hours/week

Appointment: Temporary, Hourly/Time card position, 0-40+ hours per week

Pay Range: Depending on education, qualifications, experience, and position type

    - Facilities Coordinator, $15.25-$16.18 an hour
  • 4-H State Fair
    - Livestock Coordinator, $15.25-$16.18 an hour
  • About the Positions: This is a continuous posting for the Extension Department of Youth Development. These roles provide flexible, high-impact assistance across key programming, administrative and logistical functions of the department. The primary purpose is to support program and administrative functions. These positions are not eligible for overtime, and hours are worked mainly at the State Fair or State Shoot location.

    Location and Work Environment: Positions located at the MN State Fairgrounds or Alexandria, MN Shooting Park. Positions may include work both indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, etc. Interest in available locations and roles will be collected in the required job screening questionnaire.

    Current University of Minnesota or system employees are NOT eligible for any 0003 seasonal job.

    Work Schedule: Weekly work schedule will vary and will be 0 - 40+ hours per week, depending on program needs. Work may take place during the day, evenings and/or weekends. Some positions may require overnight work arrangements. Work schedule may include travel to various sites for programming. A specific work schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

    (1) State Shoot Grounds Coordinator

    Overview: Work with the 4-H Outdoor Education Program Director to maintain shooting ranges and coordinate equipment and supply needs for the 4-H Shooting Sports and Wildlife Invitational. Pay range: $17.75-$21.00 an hour. Work is done September 10-13, 2026; may be daytime, evening, weekend, or all.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Set up, maintain, and tear down shooting ranges and event areas according to range/event layout plans.
    • Unload and reload trailers with a variety of items; use a pallet jack, skid loader or forklift, and manual labor.
    • Assist at the ranges during competition times by checking in participants, inspecting youth gear, switching targets, transporting targets to the scoring area, or scoring.
    • Maintain supplies and monitor needs throughout the event.
    • Inventory supplies at the end of the event and report to the 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife Event Manager.
    • Enforce 4-H rules and regulations.
    • Model standards for positive conduct, including language, appearance and behavior.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Complete the job screening questionnaire ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Must be at least 21 years old by the start date.
    • Driver's license and applicable insurance (in order to drive ATV/UTV and other vehicles).
    • Experience working with the MN 4-H State Shooting Sports & Wildlife program.
    • Experience working with firearms and firearm safety.
    • The ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, adult volunteers, and staff.
    • Good problem‑solving skills and a solid understanding of risk management.
    • The ability to tolerate loud noises, wear ear protection, wear eye protection, or take other safety measures in areas with environmental hazards.
    • Knowledge, skills, and ability to safely and effectively operate skid steer, forklift, all‑terrain vehicle (ATV), utility vehicle (UTV) or golf cart.
    • Must have the knowledge and skills to safely and correctly use hand tools and power tools.
    • Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, and push 50 pounds frequently.
    • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, etc.

    Preferred qualification:

    • Previous experience in Minnesota 4-H Youth Development and the 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife program.
