Job Overview
The Manager/Senior Manager, Strategic Portfolio and Business Development will support the SPBD organization in analyzing and evaluating potential product, portfolio, and company collaboration and acquisition opportunities, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations to the Business Development and Portfolio functions, and ensuring department growth objectives are met.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough product analysis, including forecasting, financial modeling, market research, and due diligence.
- Analyze potential M&A and mature brand acquisitions, monitoring overlap and strategic pipeline fit.
- Prepare detailed business cases at product and company levels.
- Maintain the business development hunt list with ideal inorganic pipeline opportunities.
- Perform macro and product-level segment analysis in the pharma market to inform strategic investment decisions.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management with insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with SPBD and cross-functional teams to develop strategic plans for portfolio growth and leverage long-range planning data.
- Assess and manage risks associated with product opportunities, ensuring alignment with risk tolerance and investment criteria.
- Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and partner/CDMO activities to inform strategy.
- Liaise with other functions on new project due diligence, R&D feasibility, legal assessment, launch management, operations planning, and commercialization scenarios.
- Update portfolio information tools, reports, and databases as new information becomes available.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Intellectual Property Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of professional pharmaceutical experience, including at least two years in product ideation, business development, market research, or pipeline valuation within the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, preferably generics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret scientific and financial data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with pharmaceutical datasets and analytics tools (e.g., IQVIA, Cortellis, Global Data, IPD Analytics, Price Rx, FDA websites).
- Experience in the generic pharmaceuticals industry.
