The Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, forward-thinking product and category strategy that drives consumer relevance, revenue growth, profitability, and long-term business performance. This role leads the end-to-end product development process from concept and business case through development, go-to-market execution, launch, and post-launch optimization. The Product Manager identifies market opportunities, develops compelling product assortments and experiences, positioning strategies, and partners cross-functionally to ensure successful execution.
The Product Manager serves as the category expert and works closely with Sales, Sourcing, Marketing, Creative, Finance, Operations, Technology, and external partners to translate business objectives and consumer needs into innovative products and effective go-to-market strategies.
- Develop and execute a multi-year category and product strategy aligned with company growth objectives, consumer needs, market trends, and financial goals.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the assigned category, maintaining a deep understanding of consumers, customers, competitors, market dynamics, emerging trends, and technology.
- Identify new products, partnership, technology, and business model opportunities that drive innovation and category growth.
- Build and maintain a strategic product roadmap that balances near-term business priorities with long-term innovation opportunities.
- Translate consumer insights, market trends, sales feedback, and business performance into actionable product strategies and development priorities.
- Lead annual and ongoing assortment reviews in partnership with Sales, Finance, and Merchandise leadership.
- Develop a balanced product portfolio across consumer segments, price points, styles, and market opportunities.
- Analyze product line performance, including revenue, profitability, productivity, adoption, and lifecycle stage, to identify opportunities for growth and optimization.
- Use data and insights to make informed decisions regarding assortment architecture, SKU productivity, product rationalization, and investment priorities.
- Develop pricing strategies in partnership with Finance that support consumer value, competitive positioning, revenue growth, and profitability objectives.
- Build business cases and financial recommendations for new products, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor category performance against financial goals and recommend actions to address opportunities and risks.
- Develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for new products, assortment changes, pricing initiatives, and key category programs.
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, Creative, Operations, and Technology to ensure product launches are strategically positioned and operationally ready.
- Define product positioning, key benefits, target audiences, and selling stories that clearly communicate the product value proposition.
- Develop and deliver product training, launch materials, and sales tools that build product knowledge and drive adoption and revenue.
- Maintain strong relationships with Sales and the broader sales community to gather market feedback, identify opportunities, and improve product strategies.
- Provide category expertise and support to resolve complex product, policy, customer, and go-to-market issues.
- Evaluate launch effectiveness and incorporate performance data and stakeholder feedback into future product and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives involving Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Technology, Creative, Sourcing, and other key business partners.
- Establish clear objectives, roles, timelines, decision points, and accountability to drive effective execution.
- Influence stakeholders and drive alignment across functions, including in situations where the Product Manager does not have direct authority.
