GENERAL STAFF REQUIREMENT: By God’s grace, The Dwelling Place exists to point others to Jesus, and to help women and children suffering from domestic violence. Staff live out Christian faith and values in ways that are consistent with the teachings of Scripture, and by participating in a fellowship of believers for spiritual enrichment, encouragement, support, and accountability.
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Children’s Program Manager, the Program Assistant provides hands‑on support to the Children’s Program and assists with Alumni and Women’s programming as needed. This role is primarily focused on children’s programming and childcare support, with additional responsibilities that support transportation, supplies, and program logistics across the ministry. Areas of focus may shift based on seasonal needs and are determined by the Children’s Program Manager and Director of Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIESChildren’s Programming Support
- Prepare, cook, and serve lunch for 8-10 children in the morning children’s program until CDC catering is in place, including transporting meals, managing dishes, and cleanup
- Purchase groceries and children’s program supplies
- Manage children’s toy donations and organization
- Assist with car seat management and children’s transportation needs
- Provide childcare coverage Monday–Friday from 9:30am–12:30pm
- Support Tuesday evening programming, including childcare and transportation
- Assist with summer children’s programming and special activities
- Assist with Tuesday night Alumni programming, including transportation and children’s support
- Provide childcare during Alumni gatherings, one Thursday evening per month.
- Participate in morning and afternoon transportation rotation to the Program Center
- Assist with grocery runs
- Provide childcare coverage during therapy sessions or appointments
- Assist with program logistics, preparation, and room setup
- Support special events and seasonal programming
- Communicate relevant information to program staff as needed
- Document required information and interactions in Apricot as directed
- Other duties as assigned to support the mission and daily operations of The Dwelling Place
- Strong personal faith in Christ and a passion for serving women and children affected by domestic violence
- Ability to maintain a positive, compassionate, and professional demeanor
- Associate’s degree plus one years related experience or Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
- Comfortable working with children and families in a trauma-informed environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing program needs
- Experience working with children, families, or in a ministry or nonprofit setting preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass The Dwelling Place background check
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
CLASSIFICATION:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:
Children’s Program Manager
- This full-time, hourly position pays between $18-22 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
