This role places a strong emphasis on sitework-related scopes of work. The ideal candidate will have an interest in developing expertise in sitework estimating while supporting other areas of building construction estimating as needed.
Prepare accurate cost estimates by prequalifying subcontractors and obtaining competitive, preferred, and/or exclusive pricing. Work as the lead estimator in developing accurate and competitive proposals while supporting preconstruction efforts and client relationships.
- Understand construction plans and specifications
- Review specifications and drawings to determine scope of work
- Complete quantity takeoffs and review vendor quotations
- Review and incorporate historical project data in pricing
- Communicate with Owner, Architect, Engineer and /or subcontractors
- Prepare conceptual estimates as required
- Perform additional assignments per direction of Director of Estimating / Chief Estimator or Vice President of the Group
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, plan reviews, estimating reviews, and operations hand-off meetings
- Solicit subcontractors/suppliers to ensure proper bid coverage
- Distribute project documents to interested bidders
- Support preconstruction services and projects that require design-assist
- Comprehend subcontractor trades and scope of work
- Assess subcontractor capabilities and qualifications
- Captures opportunities for value engineering to help the client realize a better product
- Research new techniques/ideas/products to benefit the project
- Participating with team to build and implement a win strategy
- Foster an equitable and inclusive environment in the workplace
- Participate in client presentations with Business Development to secure new work as needed
- Understand client expectations and the client relationship
- Support Associate development with mentoring and learning plans

- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred and/or 5+ years of estimating experience with leading civil estimates.
- Exposure to or experience with estimating software preferred but not required, including On-Screen Takeoff, AGTEK, Sage Estimating, bid solicitation platforms, and Client Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
- Understanding of civil/site construction and building means and methods, including earthwork, utilities, grading, and site development scopes.
- Ability to review and interpret civil drawings, geotechnical reports, and environmental documentation (Phase I and Phase II reports) as they relate to site development and construction planning.
- Experience with deep foundation systems (e.g., piles, drilled piers/caissons, helical piles), earthwork takeoffs, grading concepts, and mass excavation analysis using tools such as AGTEK or similar software (Candidates with this experience are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
