About the Construction Company /The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic construction organization delivering complex heavy civil, highway, roadway, utility, earthwork, asphalt, and paving projects. This opportunity combines estimating leadership with project management, giving you the ability to influence projects from preconstruction through completion while driving safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability. Based in Minneapolis, you will work closely with clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to deliver lasting infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities:- Manage bid preparation by reviewing plans, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements.
- Complete detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, pricing, and proposal submissions using HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Agtek, and Microsoft Office.
- Conduct site visits and pre-bid assessments to evaluate project conditions and scope.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop competitive and compliant bids.
- Develop project schedules, coordinate field operations, and manage subcontractors and vendors throughout execution.
- Oversee project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, billing, and contract administration.
- Monitor budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, financial performance, and project risks to protect profitability.
- Lead project meetings, promote OSHA-compliant safety practices, resolve operational challenges, and mentor project team members.
Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction estimating and project management.
- Strong knowledge of highway, freeway, roadway, asphalt, paving, underground utility, and earthwork construction.
- Proficiency with quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and project-level financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, HCSS Plans, Bluebeam, Agtek, Vista by Viewpoint, or comparable construction software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, efficiency, schedule, safety, and profitability.
- Strong contract negotiation, change order, subcontractor management, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to administer and enforce safety protocols, including OSHA compliance.
Skills:
- Experience leading complex highway, freeway, roadway, utility, paving, or infrastructure projects.
- Established relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
- Experience analyzing historical cost data, market conditions, and industry trends to improve estimating strategies.
- Proven ability to mentor estimators, project managers, field personnel, and other construction professionals.
- Experience representing an organization at client meetings, industry associations, and networking events.
- Interest in advancing toward Senior Project Manager, Area Manager, Regional Manager, or construction operations leadership.
