Job Overview
Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction project sites. Operate hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, mechanical hoists, and surveying equipment. Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support excavations, erect scaffolding, and remove rubble, debris, and waste. Assist other craft workers as needed.
Responsibilities- Conduct strenuous manual labor and maintain a safe job site.
- Load and unload trucks, haul and hoist materials.
- Ensure safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Identify and expose underground and overhead utilities before excavation.
- Review trenching requirements and ensure required protection is available.
- Communicate any actions that may affect project progress to the Foreman, Superintendent, or General Superintendent.
- Assist with any additional duties assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six to twelve months of construction experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with construction equipment, materials, and supplies.
- OSHA 10 certification, First Aid/CPR, and understanding of safety precautions and procedures.
- Ability to view and understand safety training videos.
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of management, employees, vendors, and business associates.
- Interpersonal skills, mathematical competency (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions), and dependable attendance.
- Willingness to perform manual work, lift and move up to 100 pounds, and work in adverse field conditions.
- Position is safety-sensitive; must pass a drug and alcohol screening.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Union affiliation or willingness to join the union.
- Must be flexible regarding work hours, including occasional weekends and travel as needed.
- 8 to 10‑hour work days with occasional weekend or flexible days.
- Lifting and moving up to 100 pounds and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, speak, and hear; occasionally stoop or kneel.
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as weather extremes, loud noises, and machinery.
