At U.S. Bank, we believe great design is human-centered, inclusive, and emotionally resonant. We’re looking for a Creative Director to help elevate the quality and consistency of our digital experiences across Personal, Business, Wealth, and Corporate segments.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary creative team that partners closely with product, technology, and marketing to craft digital experiences that are accessible, on-brand, and relevant to a modern digital landscape. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in collaborative environments, connects the dots across complex systems, and brings a strong sense of craft and storytelling to every touchpoint.
What You’ll Do- Set the Creative Bar:
Lead concept development across business lines, ensuring work is differentiated, emotionally engaging, aligned with brand standards and is data-driven. - Champion Inclusive Design:
Advocate for accessibility and ensure WCAG 2.2 AA compliance across all digital flows. - Advance Design System Adoption:
Drive usage and governance of our Shield Design System (React & native), scaling components across platforms and teams. - Evolve Brand Expression:
Adapt and extend brand assets for digital contexts, ensuring consistency and modernity across channels. - Create Visual Guidance:
Develop documentation and visual standards that empower design teams to execute with clarity and confidence. - Consult Across Teams:
Provide creative input on everything from micro-elements (icons, form fields) to macro-level strategies (end-to-end campaigns). - Iterate with
Purpose:
Embrace feedback and data analysis to refine work quickly, balancing speed with craft.
You’ll be a creative force on our Shield Design Language team
, helping unify and elevate our digital experiences. Your work will directly impact how millions of customers interact with U.S. Bank—driving satisfaction, trust, and loyalty.
You’ll help shape aspirational designs that inspire teams, set new standards for quality, and contribute to a cohesive, modern brand experience across our ecosystem.
Preferred Skills- 7+ years of experience in digital design, with a strong foundation in UX and a specialty in art direction.
- Proven ability to work across multiple business lines while maintaining brand consistency.
- Deep experience with design systems across platforms and tech stacks (web, app, dashboards).
- Expertise in accessible design.
- Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services) with an understanding of compliance, risk, and security in UX (more of a nice to have).
- Familiarity with experimentation programs and data-informed design.
- Mastery of Figma and ability to rapidly prototype across digital surfaces.
- Passion for design and technology trends and a desire to continuously learn and share insights.
- Experience with motion design and icon creation.
- Strong design craft across UX, UI, visual design, and prototyping.
- Collaborative and proactive mindset.
- Ability to leverage data and research to inform design decisions.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and visual—with the ability to influence across all levels.
- Comfort navigating complex stakeholder environments and balancing diverse inputs.
- Certification or Degrees in Design, Art, or a related discipline.
- A portfolio that showcases outstanding digital design and a track record of shaping well-crafted, user-centered products.
- The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
