The Walker Art Center empowers people to experience the transformative possibilities of the art and ideas of our time and to imagine the world in new ways. In our over 125-year history, we have become one of the most celebrated art museums in the country and we are known for our innovative presentations and acclaimed collections of contemporary art across the spectrum of the visual, performing, and media arts.

The Multimedia Producer is a member of the Walker’s in-house design studio, working with the Design Director to develop and produce video content that supports exhibitions, marketing, social media, interpretation, and public programs. This role oversees video productions from concept through delivery, coordinating shoots with freelance crews while also producing, shooting, and editing projects in-house and stewarding the Walker’s video archive.

Balancing creative authorship with technical know-how, the Multimedia Producer brings the world of the Walker to life. The ideal candidate is an accomplished visual storyteller with excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to work resourcefully across production scales.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Collaborate with the Design Director and colleagues across the museum to conceive and produce compelling moving-image work that advances the museum's exhibitions, programs, educational initiatives, marketing, and communications.
  • Lead video productions from concept through delivery, determining the appropriate production approach for each project and balancing creative ambition, quality, efficiency, and available resources.
  • Produce, direct, shoot, and edit a wide range of video content, including artist interviews, exhibition features, educational walkthroughs, performances, lectures, and marketing materials.
  • Plan and manage productions involving freelance cinematographers, editors, and other creative partners, including scheduling, coordination, and quality control.
  • Work comfortably across production scales, creating polished video content in-house while engaging outside collaborators when project scope or complexity requires.
  • Collaborate with Design Director to ensure moving-image work reflects the Walker’s visual identity and remains on-brand.
  • Prepare video assets for digital platforms, marketing, and archival use.
  • Develop production workflows that support timely delivery while maintaining a high standard of visual and technical quality.
  • Organize, catalog, and steward the Walker’s video assets, ensuring footage, project files, and metadata are preserved and accessible for future use.
  • In collaboration with the marketing department’s Digital Strategist oversee the Walker’s Vimeo and You Tube channels, including publishing, metadata, organization, presentation, and captioning.
  • Maintain familiarity with emerging production tools, camera systems, editing workflows, and creative technologies, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and expand the studio’s capabilities.
  • Contribute creative ideas and visual storytelling strategies while responding thoughtfully to design direction and institutional priorities.
  • Develop thoughtful approaches to video distribution and audience engagement, ensuring that moving-image content is accessible, discoverable, and aligned with the Walker visual identity and communications goals.
