Ruby Josephine Dance Theater (RJDT) is seeking 5 emerging and pre-professional dancers for its apprentice ensemble in our newest full length production, Ophelia, premiering in February 2027.
Ophelia is a theatrical contemporary dance retelling of Shakespeare's Hamlet, through the lens of its infamous female character.
This is the expansion of a shorter original work created by RJDT in 2024.
We are looking for dancers with strong skills in contemporary movement, theatricality, and expression, who are motivated to grow in their training and dance career. Apprentices will attend select company rehearsals alongside RJDT company members, take weekly company class during the rehearsal process, perform in every show during the two-week run and receive direct mentorship from artistic director Ruby Josephine Smith.
Each apprentice will receive a total stipend of $150 to help offset transportation, parking, and other participation expenses.
Dancers of all backgrounds, ages (18+), and genders are invited to audition.
