Department Overview
Family Services is staffed with supportive, caring professionals who assist families in many aspects of the hospital and community that fall outside of the specific care of their child. Such services include way‑finding, operator services, consumer health information, parenting and community information and resources, access to computers (internet and email), assistance in filing for financial benefits and medical assistance, and Star Studio – Children's in‑house TV.
PositionSummary
This position staffs the Welcome Center, providing first point of contact services and direction to patient and families, visitors, and staff to the Hospital. The role involves providing check‑in, badges and health screens for all, in addition to Operator Services. They relay information about the hospital and work in collaboration with other departments to provide optimum support services.
Licensing & CertificationNo license/certification/registration required.
Education- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two‑year degree or college equivalent preferred.
- Two years of Customer Service experience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the public.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions, managing time, prioritizing initiatives, and effectively multi‑task.
- Familiarity with, and experience with use of, de‑escalation techniques.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member in fast‑paced environment.
- High‑level proficiency with computing and administrative functions, including 45+ typed WPM, Group Wise email or equivalent, Instant Messenger, confirming appointments, navigating multiple databases concurrently.
- Prefer experience with electronic medical record systems (EMR).
- Call Center experience preferred.
- Ability to detect irregularities, such as security risks, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations.
- Ability to comprehend numerous organization policies, procedures, concepts and to be able to make decisions using discretion and interpretive judgment.
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity, different languages, needs and coping styles.
- Bilingual preferred.
The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full‑time employment (40 standard hours per week). Annual salaries for part‑time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full‑time standard. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits.
Positions that require night, weekend or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
