DescriptionAs a Lead Architecture Project Designer, you will have responsibility for developing, changing and maintaining and effectively training all site design, exterior design, life safety, and interior store design. The role will require juggling multiple projects, initiatives or programs at one time in various stages of development, a full understanding of how buildings are designed, detailed and constructed, with innate knowledge of general technical Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical systems, and Financial Sustainability expertise that influence design solutions.
You will translate strategy into design intent and deployment through the development of concept options and inform, direct and speak to design aesthetic to partners internal and external to Target. Inclusive to this is creating and maintaining design criteria, change projects, prototypes, engaging in quality assurance routines, and training/onboarding internal and external partners as needed to service our programs.
You will be responsible to research retail and other industry benchmarks, competition and internal guest and partner insights to inform design direction as well as maintain knowledge and understanding of current industry design trends and best methods. You will lead coordination with cross enterprise team members (e.g. Construction, Engineering, Real Estate, Store Planning, Fixture Design, Store Operations, Procurement, Creative, Space and Presentation, Visual Merchandising, etc.)
to complete designs and deliver project scopes that align with strategic direction, schedule and budget.

About you- 4 Year accredited degree (architecture or interior design preferred and or related Master’s degree)
- 6+ years of relevant work experience as a licensed and registered design professional or comparable experience (retail preferred)
- Excellent project management, design and presentation skills, communication, collaboration, organizational skills
- Proven leadership in design communication skills, leading solution development and decision framing
- Knowledge of ASME systems, basic building materials, how buildings are designed, detailed and built
- Site and Real Estate experience in working with Civil Engineers and Developers
- Ability to autonomously think strategically, conceptually and holistically while developing design and technical concepts
- Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external industry working relationships and consultants
- Ability to influence without authority across different levels of leadership to gain alignment and support
- Proficient in Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint (Smartsheet & Sketchup preferred)
- Ability to synthesize complex information from multiple disciplines into clear, actionable insights
- Experience working within large, matrixed organizations and navigating competing priorities
