Job Title: Licensed Architect

Classification: Salary, Exempt

Reports To: RSA General Manager

Location: Sioux Falls, SD

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Licensed Architect to lead the design direction, project oversight, and creative development of our architectural practice. This leadership role requires a balance of high-level design leadership, client engagement, team mentorship, and business alignment.

The Licensed Architect will be responsible for driving design excellence across projects, guiding teams through complex challenges, and representing the firm s vision to clients and stakeholders. This role also contributes to strategic decision-making, business growth, and operational success.

Hours

Mondays – Thursdays, 8am – 5pm;
Fridays, 8am – Noon

Key Responsibilities Design Leadership and Concept Development
  • Lead the creative process from concept to schematic design, ensuring alignment with client vision and project goals.
  • Develop design concepts and narratives.
  • Create sketches, diagrams, and 3D models.
  • Collaborate with clients to refine design direction.
Technical Documentation and Coordination
  • Produce accurate and code-compliant construction documents in coordination with engineering disciplines.
  • Draft plans, elevations, sections, and details.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil engineers.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory and permitting requirements.
Project Management and Client Communication
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and client relationships to ensure successful delivery.
  • Lead client meetings and presentations.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Address client feedback and manage expectations.
Construction Administration
  • Support the construction phase by ensuring design intent is maintained and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings.
  • Conduct site visits and issue field reports.
  • Respond to RFIs and coordinate with contractors.
Quality Control and Professional Standards
  • Uphold design integrity, technical accuracy, and ethical practice throughout all phases of work.
  • Review work for consistency and quality.
  • Stay current with codes, materials, and technologies.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to firm-wide standards.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed/Registered Architect, in good standing.
  • Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, including experience leading design teams and managing large-scale commercial projects.
  • Proven design leadership on complex, high-profile, or award-winning projects.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of design typologies and innovation.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in architectural design software (e.g., Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD,…
