Seasonal Product Designer

Job Description

Target is seeking a Designer for Owned Brand product design. The role involves working closely with merchant and sourcing counterparts to drive brand cohesion, continuity, and overall creative direction. The Designer will support and be responsible for Owned Brand product brands and/or categories that achieve the overall product design strategy and merchant objectives.

• Own the design and development of Target‑owned brands across apparel, home goods, beauty, and essentials.
• Work with an assigned category, brand, business or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar.
• Maintain a diligent approach to workload, including timely communication with internal and external partners.
• Support and drive concepts throughout the development process: research, selection of materials/finishes, and creation of silhouettes and form language.
• Translate ideas for product direction using CAD or hand sketches.
• Prepare professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues in collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners.
• Ensure product designs align with overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points.
• Build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division.

• Four‑year degree in Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in a retail or product development environment.
• Proficient in computer design systems including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software.
• Knowledge of textiles, garment construction/fit, raw materials, and product production.
• Experience assimilating product feedback.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost‑effective design solutions.

The role requires 3 days per week in the office from Target’s Downtown Minneapolis campus or willingness to relocate to MN. Team members working in the following states (AL, AR, DE, FL, IN, IA, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, OK, PA, SC, TN, VA) are prohibited from working remotely from those states for more than thirty (30) days per calendar year.
