About the Department
The Department of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) seeks an Assistant Professor faculty member on the Academic or Clinical Track. PACCS has more than 80 faculty across four principal hospital sites and is nationally recognized for Interstitial Lung Disease, COPD, Lung Transplantation, Critical Care Medicine (Respiratory Failure & ARDS), Cystic Fibrosis, Interventional Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.
The Division focuses on basic, clinical and ‘big data’ research to advance treatments and prevent respiratory illness.
We are looking for a faculty member who will devote at least 85% effort to high‑quality clinical care in sleep medicine, with concurrent education of trainees and research activities. Clinical work will be performed at University of Minnesota Medical Center (Hospital and Clinics and Surgery Center) and one or more Fairview Hospitals and Clinics. The faculty member will participate actively in PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs, develop a regional and national reputation in sleep medicine, and engage in multi‑investigator research and grants.

Providers practice at affiliated locations under the M Health Fairview shared care delivery system. This partnership combines academic and community resources to deliver high‑quality clinical care while supporting research and education.
MPhysiciansMPhysicians is the multi‑specialty group practice for University of Minnesota Medical School faculty clinicians, community‑practice clinicians, advanced practice providers, and healthcare professionals, providing high‑quality specialty and primary care across Minnesota.
Primary Responsibilities Include• Provide high‑quality sleep medicine clinical care (≥85% effort).
• Teach and supervise trainees (students, residents, fellows).
• Conduct collaborative research with an expectation of at least one publication per year.
• Participate in PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs, including conferences, journal club, and core curriculum lectures.
• Engage in multi‑investigator research studies and grants related to sleep medicine.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold an M.D. or D.O. and possess advanced knowledge in Sleep Medicine, including Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Applicants must also be eligible for work authorization in the United States and maintain legal status per VISA regulations.
Pay And BenefitsPay Range: This position is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota begins at $55,000, with a total combined salary anticipated between $250,698 and $307,967. Clinical salary aligns with clinical effort and is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians.
