Assistant​/Associate​/Full Professor: Sleep Medicine PACCS

About the Department

The Department of Medicine's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) seeks an Assistant Professor faculty on the Academic or Clinical Track. With more than 80 faculty based at four principal hospital sites, we feature nationally recognized programs and leaders in Interstitial Lung Disease, COPD, Lung Transplantation, Critical Care Medicine (Respiratory Failure & ARDS), Cystic Fibrosis, Interventional Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine.

We strive to find new treatments and cures through basic, clinical and “big data” research while working to prevent respiratory illness, partnering with faculty university‑wide and community clinicians.

Providers practice at affiliated locations under the M Health Fairview shared‑care delivery system, a collaboration between University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians), the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Fairview Health Services. This partnership builds a nationally recognized academic health system that combines academic and community resources to provide the best clinical care while supporting research and education across the joint delivery system.

• 85% of effort devoted to high‑quality clinical care in sleep medicine, with concurrent education of trainees.

• Remaining effort dedicated to education and collaborative research activities, with an expectation of at least one publication per year to support promotion.

• Clinical activity will be at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (Hospital and Clinics and Surgery Center) and may include time at one or more Fairview Hospitals and Clinics.

• Active participation in PACCS Division and Department of Medicine clinical and academic programs in pulmonary and critical care.

• Development of a specialized area of focus and expertise in sleep medicine, building a regional and national reputation.

• Participation in multi‑investigator research studies and grants related to sleep medicine or other division and department projects.

• Active attendance of division clinical and research conferences, journal club, core curriculum lectures, and teaching of students, residents and fellows. Experience in education and/or clinical research is desirable.

• M.D. or D.O. with high‑level qualifications and in‑depth knowledge in sleep medicine.

• Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. work authorization and legal status under the appropriate visa category.

• Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks: $250,698 – $307,967 (clinical salary from M Physicians, academic salary from the University).
