Position Summary
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full‑time board certified or board eligible clinical pathologist with expertise in transfusion medicine and blood banking. Academic rank, compensation, and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must demonstrate teaching ability and scholarly productivity.
Responsibilities- Join a team of experienced pathologists in the transfusion medicine division and lead the Blood Bank laboratory.
- Attend to the blood bank and apheresis service, with time spent on clinical duties as an attending.
- Share sign‑out responsibilities, call, resident and fellow supervision, and conferences with other transfusion medicine faculty.
- Take on leadership opportunities in education and academically pursue scholarly work in the chosen specialty.
- Foster an academic environment for medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
- MD or equivalent degree (DO, MBBS, etc.).
- Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota.
- Completion of an ACGME‑accredited pathology residency and a transfusion medicine/blood banking fellowship.
- Board certified or board eligible in Clinical Pathology (CP) or AP/CP and in Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and scholarly productivity.
- Total salary based on AAMC benchmarks; clinical salary through University of Minnesota Physicians, academic salary from the university.
