Position: Summer Camp Roles: Educators & Coordinators (K-8 STEM)

About the Job

This positing is for five distinct positions with the Bell Museum Summer Camps. Please review each role carefully; applicants may apply for more than one position.

Camp dates:
June 22, 2026, to August 26, 2026

  • Position start date:
    Dependent on position. Coordinator positions start as early as May 21, 2026.
  • Position end date:
    August 26, 2026
  • Required staff training days: 5 days (30-40 hours) of training to be scheduled between June 12-18. Times will vary.

Working Hours:

These are temporary appointments, working up to 67 days maximum per year, Monday-Friday. Most positions will work 40 hours/week, for 7-9 weeks, June 22, 2026 to August 26, 2026. The Summer Camp Assistant Educator position allows for full-time or part-time hours, based on stated preference, and the Summer Camp Resource Coordinator will work 30 hours/week.

Summer Camp Assistant Educator:
Pay Rate: $17.00/hour. This position involves assisting camp lead educators in creating a safe, age-appropriate, and positive learning environment during educational camp experiences centered on environmental science, natural history, and astronomy. Assisting lead educators includes maintaining cleanliness, set up and take down of activities, behavior support, and teaching one lesson a week. Other responsibilities include daily lunch tents set up on the field (weather permitting), assisting with check-in and check-out, and following all Safety of Minors policies.

Summer Camp Lead Educator: Pay Rate: $20.00/hour. This position is responsible for facilitating educational experiences centered on environmental science, natural history, engineering, and astronomy. Responsibilities include implementing the existing STEAM curriculum, mentoring assistants, and creating a safe, engaging learning environment for campers. Campers range from grades K-8 with camp sizes ranging from 12 to 21. This position includes following all Safety of Minors policies.

Summer Camp Resource Coordinator: Pay Rate: $21.00/hour. This position coordinates resources and supplies for summer camps including ordering, care, and distribution of camp supplies. It requires clear communication with campers, guardians, staff, and the public, and may include teaching classes on an as-needed basis.

Summer Camp Youth Support Coordinator: Pay Rate: $21.00/hour. This position coordinates behavioral and emotional support for campers, creates and operates safety and camp systems, and ensures compliance with Safety of Minors policies. It may include assisting with check-in/check-out and teaching as needed.

Summer Camp Satellite Coordinator: Pay Rate: $21.00/hour. This position manages satellite camps, supports off-site operations, and coordinates resources and communication with camp families and staff. It may include teaching responsibilities as needed.

Bell Summer Camps are fun and enriching day-camp experiences that encourage children to explore their scientific passions and discover new interests. Children entering grades K-8 will experience science and nature with hands-on investigation, museum visits, games, creative projects, guided outdoor exploration, and more.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
