About The Job

These part‑time positions support the teaching mission of the Academic Accounting Department. Teaching duties include undergraduate and master’s degree accounting courses taught in large lectures and small case discussions.

The courses are offered in Minnesota Carlson’s day, evening, and weekend degree programs in the Twin Cities.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Course material preparation (syllabus, handouts, homework, quizzes, exams, etc.)
  • Textbook selection
  • Course delivery
  • Evaluation of students
  • Record keeping
  • Management/supervision of teaching assistants
  • Office hours

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Teaching Specialist:
    Bachelor’s degree + 3 years teaching experience in a closely related field
  • Senior Teaching Specialist:
    Bachelor’s degree + 6–8 years teaching experience in a closely related industry and/or academic field, of which 4 or more years must be formal teaching
  • Lecturer:
    Terminal degree OR Master’s degree + 5 years related industry and/or academic experience
  • Senior Lecturer:
    Terminal degree + 10 years related industry and/or academic experience OR Master’s degree + 15 years related industry and/or academic experience

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for H‑1B or Green Card sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous college‑level teaching experience is preferred at all levels.

The Minnesota Carlson Department of Accounting offers a stimulating learning environment with outstanding synergies across paradigms. Students develop an understanding of accounting in its relationship to other disciplines such as economics, finance, psychology, and sociology. Faculty research spans information economics, decision‑making processes, market efficiency, security valuation, financial disclosures, and accounting regulations.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $3,200 per credit.
