Child Garden Montessori, a private Montessori school in Minneapolis, is seeking a full time experienced Infant Assistant from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Child Garden Montessori School serves children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. We are located on the outskirts of downtown Minneapolis, footsteps away from Loring Park and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
This position requires a warm, friendly personality with exceptional organizational and collaborative skills. The Assistant Infant Teacher is responsible for helping to maintain the Montessori environment, caring for each infant to provide for their needs and a sense of security, while nurturing their independence and development. All work is performed incorporating Montessori philosophy and methods and within state licensing guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Parent relations: maintain positive communication with families and update daily logs.
- Student activities: perform food preparation, do bottle feeding, changing, supervise naps. Talk to and interact with the infants, helping them to practice and increase their daily physical and cognitive development.
- Staff relations and development:
Communicate with all staff in a positive and friendly way to support the safe and smooth operation of the classroom. Attend all staff meetings and in-service days - Administration and operations: ensure safety and licensing requirements are met; maintain current, accurate academic records on students; document child behavior as needed; complete required recordkeeping such as accident reports, crib checks; naps, diapering and feeding times.
- Work in partnership with the Director to ensure the organization’s objectives, requirements and standards are achieved
- Minimum:
High School Diploma - Two or more years related child care experience with infants desired
- Experience working in a Montessori setting a plus
- Knowledge of licensing standards
- Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with parents, staff and students
- Effective organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in using a tablet to update daily logs
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment
- Must submit to a background check
- Must be authorized to work in the US
- Must be able to commute daily to work in person
