Teaching Specialist About the Job
Teaching Specialists provide classroom teaching for courses that supplement the faculty offerings and/or expertise of the faculty. The teaching specialist also provides a source of classroom substitute instruction. The title may be used for credit and non-credit courses, workshops, seminars, and conferences. It is not normally expected that persons in this classification would be expected to fulfill the other missions of the University.
Service to the unit, college, or campus may be expected.
- Develop and teach assigned courses
- Advise students with regard to academic concerns and school-related organizations
- Masters degree is normally required. The appointee is not required to have the same credentials expected of faculty, but must have demonstrated competence to teach the course material. Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities may be required.
- Masters degree or PhD in Conservation Sciences.
- Experience teaching or assisting teaching in a collegiate academic setting.
Pay Range: $3,500 per credit; $10,500 total – paid out bi-weekly over the term, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
