Position DescriptionThe Assistant Director of District Literacy reports to the Director of Teaching & Learning and is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation, and oversight of the district’s comprehensive literacy program. This includes serving as the mandated Local Literacy Lead for MDE, providing leadership for Tier 1-3 including core instruction through literacy intervention, supervising literacy staff and ADSIS requirements, and building the capacity of site‑based leadership and literacy staff to ensure high‑quality, data‑driven instruction for all students.
Qualifications- Minnesota Department of Education K-12 Principal licensure.
- Minnesota Teaching License required; additional Reading License and Elementary Education license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a literacy position.
- Master’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or Educational Leadership.
- Extensive experience in K-12 literacy instruction and instructional coaching.
- Proven experience in data analysis, curriculum implementation, and staff development.
- Comprehensive understanding of the MN READ Act, ADSIS regulations, and MDE Local Literacy Plan requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Structured Literacy, Tier 1-3 instruction, and the Science of Reading.
- Mastery of universal screening tools, dyslexia screening mandates, and data‑driven instructional cycles.
- Principles of adult learning and models for building coaching capacity.
