Position Summary

Under general supervision, coordinates and leads the MPS CTE program, including alignment of CTE frameworks, course design and delivery, assessment, and professional development. Supports the District’s Strategic Plan with a specific emphasis on promoting academic achievement for all learners through career‑related learning.

Essential Functions
  • Facilitate implementation of MPS MDE approved CTE courses, with specific leadership in Work‑Based Learning programming.
  • Implement practices and strategies to increase student enrollment in CTE courses while reducing or eliminating racial disparities in student outcomes and course enrollments.
  • Develop CTE programming accountability benchmarks and assess individual and team performance against those benchmarks.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development and related services to CTE stakeholders.
  • Increase MPS staff, student, caregiver, and community awareness of CTE programs and achievement levels of students, and gain support for the District’s initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor CTE budgets and grants in collaboration with Executive Director of Academic Programs, CTE Director, and CTE Principal.
  • Support Multi‑Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model of differentiated instruction and tiered intervention processes.
  • Facilitate implementation of Minnesota STEM/CTE standards and tiered instruction, ensuring equitable access to instructional materials.
  • Lead the process of creating/adopting instructional materials that support standards‑based teaching and learning and integration of content.
  • Lead teams inclusive of all stakeholders in developing, vetting, and revising integrated units of study and formative and summative assessments.
  • Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff, promoting a harmonious workplace environment.
  • Enthusiastically promote Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work‑related issues, records, and MPS information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work outside normal business hours or extended hours as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education.
  • Current CTE license.
  • Four (4) years of experience in CTE leadership.
  • Knowledge of: CTE programming inclusive of work‑based learning; applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment; rules and regulations of the Federal Perkins Funding, Minnesota Departments of Education, and other governing agencies; principles and practices of public sector administrative management, including finance, budgeting, purchasing, contract and grant management, customer service, and employee supervision; CTE programming based on current educational research and national programs that advance achievement for urban students;

    techniques and practices for efficient and cost‑effective management of resources; state and federal laws governing public sector grant funding programs; local community resources, regional community services programs, and regional training programs; current educational research; instructional strategies and national programs in (content area) teaching; use of personal computers and standard software applications; principles of record keeping and records management.
License and Certification Requirements

Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Work Based Learning 7‑12.

Knowledge
  • Applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
