English Learner Specialist (LTS) Position

This LTS position is anticipated to be from 08/24/2026 to 11/27/2026.

Our English Learner specialists view multilingualism as an asset. Using their strong understanding of language acquisition and through the use of formative data, they design language instruction for students across all WIDA levels. The EL Specialist uses different service models (co‑taught, pull‑out, and sheltered instruction) to meet the needs of all learners. They implement procedures for identification, servicing, and exiting EL students and administer WIDA ACCESS.

They are also comfortable facilitating professional learning for staff and serving as a valued member of PLC and grade‑level teams.

Qualifications/Licensing Requirements
  • Earned a B.A. or B.S. degree.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Minnesota State Licensure in English as a Second Language.
  • Commitment to the equitable education of all students.
  • Creative planning and organizational skills.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to successfully implement the responsibilities of the position overview listed above.
Preferences

We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates also demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate‑level work or an earned degree, and participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area. Preference is given to candidates with experience working with diverse learners.
