About the Job
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities occasionally needs to hire employees on a temporary and/or casual basis throughout the year. These positions perform a variety of nonacademic and/or academic work responsibilities on a temporary or casual work schedule, as defined below.
- Temporary: Limited to 67 or fewer days of work in a calendar year.
- Casual: Limited to working 14 or fewer hours per week; are not limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- (50%) Collaborate with departmental faculty and/or staff to facilitate ongoing projects
- (50%) Gather and analyze data
This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during FY26 (July 2025 - June 2026). Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as‑needed basis. Appointments are based on need, funding, and performance.
QualificationsEducational credentials, work experience, and/or certifications in specific area/field that do not exceed those of comparable UMN job classifications. Qualifications determined by supervisor in consultation with Human Resources.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $15.25 - $55.25 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
