Job Summary
A Student Management Specialist uses restorative practices to build and maintain relationships between students, teachers, and parents. They help students grow and improve behavior while creating individual interventions. They also plan and maintain school-wide systems, structures, and discipline and serve as ambassadors for our community.
Responsibilities- Assist the principal in overall administration of the middle school program.
- Serve as a resource for teachers and staff concerning student attendance, development, and discipline.
- Coordinate efforts with guidance, police liaison officer(s), school psychologist, and/or social worker to meet with students and parents regarding attendance and behavior improvement.
- Consult with families via conference or communication systems concerning attendance and behavior.
- Resolve student behavior concerns fairly and timely, maintaining records of disciplinary or referral actions.
- Monitor the physical plant of schools and grounds, following up on student vandalism.
- Assist in the interpretation of district programs related to substance abuse and truancy.
- Recommend revisions to policies and rules affecting student behavior.
- Support strategies to improve student performance, attendance, and development.
- Assist in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security.
- Maintain active relationships with parents, families, and students.
- Assist in establishing rules for in-school suspension/detention.
- Respond to written and oral communication regarding development and discipline matters.
- Serve on committees and attend meetings as directed by principal.
- Assume responsibility when all administrators are out of the building.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities within the overall scope of the position as assigned.
