Village Kids Program Assistant Teacher

Qualifications:

Experience working with youth in an education, recreation, or other related field preferred. Minimum desired qualifications: strong communication skills and flexibility, experience collaborating in teams, demonstrates an understanding of cultural competency and child development.

Purpose:

We are seeking a candidate to work with a group of 15 students in the mornings and on non-school days in our Village Kids (grades K-5) program at Wilshire Park Elementary School. This candidate could also work additional hours by subbing in the afternoons.

Responsibilities in the morning include welcoming kids as they arrive, supervising the children as they play in the gym, art room, Village Kids room, game room, or playground, transition to breakfast and their grade level classroom, and cleaning/sanitizing spaces. Responsibilities in the afternoon include transitioning kids from their grade level classroom to snack, supervising the children as they play in the gym, art room, Village Kids room, game room, or playground, and cleaning/sanitizing spaces after children leave the program.

Assistant teachers will follow established procedures when working with children, communicate with coworkers and parents, and attend required trainings.

Responsibilities:
Work with a group of young children five to ten years of age, ability to implement activities for a group of children, ability to work effectively on a team, and ability to develop positive relationships with children, coworkers, and parents.

Employment dates:
August 25, 2025-June 4, 2026. Additional hours available on non-school days. Morning and/or afternoon hours available Monday through Friday: 7:30-9:15 am (8 hours/week) Monday through Friday: 3:30-5:30 pm (10 hours/week). Salary: $18.41 - $21.78 per hour.
