Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) Site Lead
Under the guidance of the Youth Enrichment Manager, the YEP Site Lead is responsible for implementing and coordinating the daily activities of the support staff and program participants by performing such duties as transitions, snack time, busses and; monitoring and supervising student behaviors and child safety; maintaining program records; informing and communicating with programs staff, parents, site supervisor, concerning program issues, events, and/or student issues.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Be a positive role model and leader to staff and students.
- Creates and maintains a safe and welcoming environment that promotes and serves the needs of children and families.
- Follow all District, program, and building health and safety procedures.
- Open communication with the school office staff for absences, special notes, space, or other information.
- Communicates with Community Ed for any information about new registrations, changes, or other information.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Community Education Youth Enrichment Manager for updates and scheduling.
- Check email/voicemail for messages from parents.
- Follow up on any students who did not show up for class and were not marked absent.
- Ease the transition between the end of school and the start of Afternoon Enrichment.
- Lead the supervision of students at the playground during tranisitional period between the end of school and the start of Afternoon Enrichment.
- Facilitate students getting to their designated class.
- Be actively involved during classes and be available if teachers need help, or deal with any issues that may arise.
- Support getting students during dismissal and ensure all spaces are clean.
- Stay on-site until all students have been picked up.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of children and families.
- Communicates and puts in writing accidents or incidents concerning children or staff to appropriate supervision or parents.
- Other duties as assigned by the Youth Enrichment Manager.
- Knowledge of district academic curriculum requirements.
- Fundamentals of work coordination and delegation.
- Understanding of behavioral management practices and fundamentals.
- Skilled in assigning work, leading, and coordinating work activities and priorities of classroom support personnel.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Planning and implementing site activities in accordance with program themes, trimester club scheduling with teachers, and academic subject activities.
- Implementing behavioral management practices.
- Updating and preparing site files, records, and reports in accordance with department requirements.
- Dealing with children, staff, parents, administrators, and building personnel concerning issues and activities. Interactions require the explanation of program operational rules and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of educational issues/needs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and moving around to supervise and assist students.
- Occasional running or quick movement, especially in recreational or outdoor activities.
- Lifting and carrying program materials, sports equipment, or art supplies.
- Setting up and arranging tables, chairs, or activity stations.
- May require prolonged standing or physical participation in games, sports, or hands-on projects.
- Some roles may include outdoor supervision, requiring exposure to different weather conditions.
- Work takes place in schools, classrooms, gymnasiums, libraries, or outdoor spaces.
- Involves rotating between different locations within the school or off site field trips.
- May be exposed to different weather conditions.
- Fast-paced environment requiring constant interaction with students and staff.
- Moderate to high noise levels due to student engagement, group activities, and movement.
- Requires adaptability to manage and maintain order in an energetic environment.
- Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Requires monitoring students during recess, events, or summer programs.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Two years of youth work experience.
