Youth Educator Intern

Position & Responsibilities

Role Summary As part of Tubman’s Movement for Violence Prevention (MVP) team, the Youth Educator Intern connects with students through education and youth leadership activities. Interns present our violence prevention curriculum in middle and high schools, facilitate leadership groups, and provide tools to youth that support peer education and other related projects. Interns may have opportunities to provide individual advocacy and support.

• Provide youth with the information needed to recognize healthy relationship dynamics
• Support youth as they learn skills to engage in positive conflict resolution within their relationships and interactions with peers
• Educate community youth about the services Tubman has to offer

• Promote well‑being of youth by administering prevention‑based services and access points
• Provide on‑going support through education, individual meetings, and leadership groups
• Communicate and collaborate with supervisor and team to support programming and promote events and activities
• Plan and curate posts to engage youth audiences via various social media platforms

• Excellent communication skills, flexibility, maturity, and positive attitude
• Awareness and understanding of challenges facing youth and ability to think critically
• Interest in public speaking, community outreach, and youth programs
• Ability to work independently and to manage resources and time effectively
• Ability to work with diverse teams and clients to foster a culturally inclusive environment
• Must have current driver’s license, insurance, access to a car, and willingness to travel

• Minimum of 12 hours per week done in 2 weekdays (between 8 am and 3 pm) preferred
• September through May commitment required

• Attend Tubman’s five‑part Volunteer/Intern Orientation and Training Series
• Supervised by the Youth Educator
