NWHSU is seeking a dynamic and passionate Massage Therapist to join our Massage Therapy program in the College of Health and Wellness as a ranked faculty member. In this role, you will have the opportunity to inspire and prepare the next generation of massage therapy professionals through evidence-informed instruction, hands-on clinical education, and a holistic, patient-centered approach to care. Working alongside a dedicated team of educators, you will create engaging learning experiences, mentor students as they develop their clinical and professional skills, and provide meaningful feedback that supports their growth and success.
This position is ideal for an educator and practitioner who is committed to excellence in teaching, continuous learning, and advancing the massage therapy profession through student development and academic innovation.
Work Location:
Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work up to 1-2 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.
Duties:
- Prepare, maintain, and update course syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials in alignment with program objectives, institutional requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Deliver engaging, evidence-informed instruction through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on learning activities, and classroom discussions that support diverse learning styles and student success.
- Evaluate student performance through written examinations, practical assessments, assignments, and participation; provide timely, constructive feedback and academic support.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum consistency, course alignment, and achievement of program learning outcomes.
- Integrate current research, evidence-based practices, and emerging trends in massage therapy and adult education into course content and instructional methods.
- Maintain expertise in massage therapy through ongoing professional development, continuing education, and industry engagement.
- Contribute to curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement efforts, including assessment, accreditation, and strategic planning activities.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of academic policies, program standards, and student learning outcomes.
- Represent the Massage Therapy program at university events including recruitment activities, and community outreach opportunities, as requested.
- Support program goals and initiatives that contribute to student success, academic quality, and long-term program sustainability.
What you need to have?
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in the field of massage therapy with a preference for educational leadership and administrative experience and/or education
- BCTMB certification, required
- Demonstrated experience as a practicing massage therapist, required
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Teaching, mentoring and administration experience, preferred
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize academic and educational technology systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Commitment to evidence-informed practice, student success, and inclusive learning environments
Compensation: $50,000-$58,822 (Instructor/Assistant Professor);
Associate or Full Professor compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's education, related professional experience, and internal equity considerations.
