Hiawatha Academies is hiring multiple network-wide Reserve Teachers to provide coverage for both short-term and long-term teacher absences across three campuses.

Job Summary

Network Reserve Teachers are full-time, network-based staff who travel between three campuses to cover daily teacher absences across the network at our elementary, middle, and high school locations. Designed for aspiring educators seeking a structured, supportive pathway into classroom teaching, this position provides consistent instructional experience, coaching, and immersion in Hiawatha Academies' academic program and school culture while ensuring continuity of high-quality instruction during teacher absences.

Responsibilities
  • Lead rigorous, standards-aligned lessons by following established lesson plans, maintaining strong classroom culture, and supporting scholars' academic and social-emotional development.
  • When not serving as the lead instructor, support small-group instruction, interventions, or enrichment to continue skill-building and relationship development with scholars and staff.
  • Work closely with teachers, para educators, and campus leadership to develop instructional practice, classroom management skills, and professional readiness.
  • Serve as a stepping stone toward a future full-time teaching position at Hiawatha Academies for individuals who demonstrate strong performance, growth, and alignment with the mission to close the opportunity gap and ensure a great school for every child.
Employment Logistics
  • Network Reserve Teachers will be assigned to a "home base" and follow the Instructional Leaders Calendar, attending Network Professional Development and some campus-based development when assigned.
  • Staff hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday at the elementary and middle campuses; 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Monday – Friday at the high school.
  • All staff are expected to attend and participate in relevant evening family events as set by the collective bargaining agreement.
