About The Job
The Department of Speech‑Language‑Hearing Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota occasionally needs teaching specialists or lecturers to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. Openings of this kind sometimes occur for evening sessions, summer sessions, day courses, and courses offered through Independent and Distance Learning. These positions are temporary and part‑time.
Teaching specialists and lecturers will be expected to teach undergraduate or graduate students in assigned course(s), hold office hours to assist and advise students, and participate in relevant departmental meetings.
Qualifications- M.A. degree from an accredited institution in Speech‑Pathology and certification in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) or Doctor of Audiology and certification in Audiology (CCC‑A), with at least two years of professional experience beyond the Clinical Fellowship Year in a hospital or school setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be capable of delivering high‑quality instruction to a diverse student body.
- College‑level teaching experience and supervision of students in a clinical setting.
- Previous experience providing educational experiences to health care providers.
- Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience providing clinical care to pediatric and adult patients.
Applicants with a master’s or PhD will be appointed at the Lecturer level.
Pay & BenefitsPay Range: $6,600 - $8,000 per course; depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
