Beacons Center Program Coordinator
Pay Range: $53,000 – $55,000
Status: Full-Time
Location: Franklin STEAM Middle School, Minneapolis Public Schools / YWCA Minneapolis
What You’ll Do:- Design and deliver high-quality youth programs grounded in best practices in youth development.
- Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with the Beacons manager, school administration, and families, maintaining professional and positive relationships with all.
- Lead the recruitment and scheduling of instructors and community partners, ensuring opportunities are responsive to student interests.
- Manage $200,000 program budget, ensuring appropriate use of resources.
- Hire, train, and support part-time youth counselors.
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to strengthen youth services.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Represent YWCA Minneapolis and promote the YWCA brand at school site, in Beacons network and in larger school community.
- Support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
You are a passionate youth advocate and experienced program leader who thrives in diverse school and community settings. You understand the power of after school programs to support positive youth development and are committed to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice.
You bring strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and guide teams, and a collaborative mindset that strengthens partnerships and engagement with youth, families, and community stakeholders.
Core Competencies:- Youth Development:
Deep understanding of best practices in Middle school programming and positive youth development. - Leadership:
Experience coaching and supporting diverse part-time staff. - Collaboration:
Skilled in building relationships with schools, families, and community partners. - Cultural Responsiveness:
Ability to engage effectively with youth and families from varied racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. - Program Design & Evaluation:
Proficient in planning, implementing, and assessing youth programs for continuous improvement. - Communication:
Strong verbal and written skills, with confidence in presenting to groups and stakeholders. - Time Management:
Organized and adaptable with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social/Human Services, Youth Development, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth in group settings.
- Experience designing and facilitating educational and enrichment activities.
- Experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strengths-based, youth-centered approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
- Reliable transportation to travel to various program and meeting sites.
- Experience working with Middle school aged youth.
- Experience working with boys of color.
- Supervisory experience with young adults and/or youth.
- Knowledge of service learning, experiential education, and leadership development.
