$18.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on qualifications and level of experience
- $1,000 hiring bonus after 3 months of employment

This is an on-call, part-time position. The hours will vary depending on our early childhood program needs. Four Directions is open on weekdays from 7:00am-5:30pm.
Job SummaryThe Family Partnership is seeking 4 On-Call Substitute Teachers to provide flexible, as-needed coverage for our early childhood program when regular staff are absent due to paid time off, illness, or training. Four Directions is a full-day therapeutic education and care program for children aged 6 weeks to 11 years of age. Four Directions is committed to the revitalization of the Dakota and Ojibway languages.
We work with our partner Wicoie Nandagikendan to provide language immersion and culturally responsive early childhood education. Substitute staff may support classrooms in the role of Teacher’s Aide, Assistant Teacher, or Lead Teacher, based on qualifications and program needs. This position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible schedules and meaningful work supporting children and families.
- Substitute staff may be assigned specific duties based on role and qualifications, including but not limited to, supervising children to ensure safety and wellbeing.
- Support daily routines of children including arrival, meals, naps, transitions, and outdoor play.
- Follow lesson plans or direction provided by lead staff or administration.
- Engage children in age-appropriate, positive, and culturally responsive interactions.
- Follow all DHS licensing regulations and center policies.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times.
- Implement health and safety practices, including handwashing and cleaning protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and flexibility.
- Communicate clearly with center leadership regarding availability and assignments.
- You meet MN DHS background study clearance requirements.
- The ability to physically care for children, including lifting, bending, standing, and moving throughout the day.
- Applicants will be placed in substitute roles aligned with their verified qualifications.
- Teacher’s Aide:
No formal education required and will work under supervision of qualified teaching staff. - Assistant Teacher:
You meet DHS requirements for assistant teacher qualifications. - Lead Teacher:
You meet DHS qualifications for teacher roles.
- Teacher’s Aide:
- Prior experience in a licensed childcare or early childhood education is preferred.
- Familiarity with DHS licensing standards is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is preferred.
- Flexible availability and ability to accept short notice assignments is preferred.
