About the Job
This position is a 50% time teaching specialist position for fall semester (August 31, 2026 - January 6, 2027) in the Department of Biology Teaching and Learning. The instructor of record for one section of Biology 1009, scheduled to teach in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 – 2:15 PM on the Minneapolis East Bank campus.
This role will not lead to a tenure‑track position and is not eligible for H‑1B or Green Card sponsorship.
- prepare instructional materials (some materials will be provided)
- administer all aspects of the lecture portion of the course
- finalize the syllabus
- deliver bi‑weekly, in‑person, active learning class meetings (lectures)
- develop and maintain the course Canvas page
- create meaningful in‑class learning experiences
- create formative and summative assessments
- grade student work
Applicants should have an advanced (preferably terminal) degree in a biological science or equivalent experience. Previous teaching experience preferred.
QualificationsAdvanced or Masters level degree in Biology or related field.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $30.50 - $31.42/hr
