Job Overview

40-50% Clinical

Education:

Successful candidates will be able to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with a strong academic and clinical faculty and staff team. Key duties include educating students and faculty about clinical education, developing inclusive advising and coaching practices, course coordination, evaluating student performance in collaboration with other faculty, and selecting and coordinating clinical placements.

10-20% Service:
Faculty contribute to committee and professional service, faculty governance of the DPT program, and the Department, Medical School, and University. Experienced faculty are expected to provide mentorship to junior faculty and lead within the broader University.

5-10% Scholarship:
Faculty contribute to the scholarly mission through an active commitment to excellence in a defined area of scholarship, with a defined scholarly agenda in their expertise.

Other duties as assigned. Candidates may also contribute to direct teaching and student mentoring in their areas of expertise (10-20%). This role may be shaped to accommodate active clinical practice.

Qualifications

Academic or Clinical (non‑tenure) track Clinical Education faculty position for the Division of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota. Ability to consider 80-100% FTE options, 12 months, rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Role could be Assistant Director, Co‑Director, or Director of Clinical Education.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for educating the next generation of physical therapy providers and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, anti‑oppressive, and trauma‑informed practices that support student success. Candidates should hold a DPT, be eligible for Minnesota licensure, and preferably have experience working directly with students. Advanced academic doctoral degrees are preferred but not required. Preference for applicants with prior academic experience, especially in advising, coaching, clinical education, student affairs, or student support.

Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a team‑based philosophy, and commitment to the execution, evaluation, and improvement of clinical education processes. They should be able to work effectively with students with diverse lived experiences and learning needs.

Pay & Benefits

Pay Range: $110,000–$123,000; depending on education, qualifications, and experience.

Time Appointment: 75%–100% Appointment.

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff.
