Position: Teaching Specialist/Lecturer FY 27 Continuous Recruitment (ICD)

The Institute of Child Development, College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota is looking for temporary, non-tenured Teaching Specialists or Lecturers to provide instruction on undergraduate or graduate courses in child development areas. Positions are paid per course and are filled on a semester-by-semester or as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Employment is contingent upon meeting course enrollment targets.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned in-person or online course at undergraduate or graduate level covering topics such as infant, adolescent, cognitive, language development, social and emotional development, disabilities, etc.
  • Prepare course materials including syllabus.
  • Attend all class meetings.
  • Grade student materials (exams, papers, presentations, final exams).
  • Submit grades.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Student Advising
  • Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, or in person.
  • Be available for scheduled office hours.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree relevant to the teaching assignment required for appointment as Teaching Specialist.
  • Doctorate or terminal degree relevant to the teaching assignment required for appointment as Lecturer.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $3,275 - $3,775 per credit; depending on education, qualifications, and experience.

Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
