Salary Range:$29,400-$42,000
Purpose of Position:The primary responsibility of our passionate and dedicated Physical Education teacher is to provide engaging instruction to 9thgrade students. This position will Foster lifelong healthy habits by promoting physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, wellness, and personal responsibility within a safe and inclusive learning environment. This position will be responsible for developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and inspiring students.

Representative Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Plan and deliver engaging standards-based physical education lessons aligned with Minnesota State Standards.
- Teach freshman students the principles of physical fitness, movement, health, and wellness.
- Develop units that include:
- Cardiovascular fitness
- Strength and flexibility
- Team and individual sports
- Cooperative games
- Lifetime recreational activities
- Personal fitness planning
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and physical abilities of students.
- Promote lifelong fitness habits through goal setting and personal improvement.
Student Development:
- Foster an environment built on respect, inclusion, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and healthy decision-making skills.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and Christian values in daily interactions.
- Support the social and emotional development of students through positive relationships.
Assessment:
- Assess student growth through participation, skill development, fitness assessments, and personal goal achievement.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with parents and guardians as needed.
Classroom and Facility Management:
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Supervise students in gymnasiums, fitness areas, locker rooms, outdoor fields, and other activity spaces.
- Ensure proper use, care, and storage of physical education equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, counselors, and administration to support student success.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, retreats, and school events.
- Support school-wide initiatives that promote student wellness and community engagement.
- Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or obtain upon hire).
- Uphold all policies and procedures of De La Salle High School and the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
Preferred
- Experience teaching high school physical education.
- Knowledge of fitness technology and wellness programming.
- Coaching experience or willingness to assist with extracurricular activities.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.

- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Able to workwhatever is required – including occasional weekend and evening work.
- Ability to lift and move using proper techniques up to and including 25 pounds.
