Job SummaryJob Summary
Minneapolis College is currently looking for a part-time, limited Student Worker Para Professional in the Architectural Technologies department in the School of Design and Arts. The focus of the student worker paraprofessional in the Architectural (ARCH) Program at Minneapolis Community and Technical College is to retain at risk students who specifically struggle in the program due to the following two factors:
1) Poor computer skills and technical knowledge,
2) hesitancy to ask for assistance or build a rapport with the program and other students. This position will work directly with the faculty in helping create and implement tactics to identify which students are struggling with use of software and identify students who are struggling with the needed computer skills to use the software successfully. They will also provide regular tutoring and hold live sessions to address student concerns in real time.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring the Azure (or other access software gateway) accounts.
- Assisting students in setting up and navigating D2L, online portal/gateway software, and industry software.
- Attending AutoCAD lectures and acting as a classroom assistant 10% of the time
- Maintaining consistent office hours for students to call or drop in.
- Set-up, take down, and monitoring of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled at a credit granting institution or at a non-credit granting institution and must be carrying at least six semester (nine quarter) credits - must be in good academic standing
- If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, the student must be taking two or more classes per semester / quarter.
- Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporates culturally responsive practices,and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
- Proficient with computer technology including Microsoft Office, e-mail, on-line databases, and internet

Student Worker Eligibility
:
To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional you must be enrolled in a post‑secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a classes per semester/quarter.
Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
