Position: Student Support Aide (Contract)

We are looking for a contract Student Support Aide to join our growing team at Project Success. Project Success is a youth development nonprofit organization that helps students connect to their purpose. We work with more than 17,000 6th-12th grade students and their families annually and have more than 225,000 alumni around the world. Learn more

Student Support Aidesprovideone-on-oneassistancetostudentswhoneedadditionalsupport as they build critical life and career skills through the Project Success Certificate classes. They assist in areas as directed by the student to help the m learn safely an d have a positive experience.

This independent contractor role supports Wednesdayevening classes from4:00– 7:00 PM, from September 30 – December 16. There is a possibility of contract renewal based on program needs.

Our ideal candidate has experience working with people with disabilities, an ability to build and nurture trusting relationships, and is consistent, dependable, and reliable. They are able to respond to individual needs with care and have strong communication skills.

CONTRACT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide one-on-one support to high school students with a variety of special needs
  • Work with students to improve personal skills and reinforce classroom learning
  • Assist with classroom setup and cleanup as needed
  • Collaborate with Project Success staff, contractors, and volunteers to create an environment that is welcoming and accessible to students with special needs
  • Develop and sustain relationships with students enrolled in Institute Certificate programming
  • Escalate any student behavior issues to the Program Manager – Certificates to ensure physical and emotional safety and respect to students, staff, volunteers, and contractors
  • When no student requiring one-on-one support is present, assist with the general execution of classroom activities and operations

September 17th from 4-7 PM

Project Success building (1 Groveland Terrace, Minneapolis, MN 55403)

Roles & responsibilities, student best practices, and safety
Attendance is required for all contractors. A stipend will be provided for attending.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • High school degree or GED required
  • 1+ years of experience working directly with young people with special needs and a variety of backgrounds
  • Knowledge of best practices for supporting young people with disabilities, including behavior support and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to build and nurture trusting relationships with young people and staff from a variety of backgrounds
  • Consistent, dependable, and reliable
  • Strong communication, listening, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to step in as needs evolve
  • A commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Project Success
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, including movement throughout a classroom environment
POSITION DETAILS

This is an independent contractor position supporting our Fall Baking Certificate class from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Project Success building, starting September 30th, 2026. Specific details regarding scheduling will be discussed during the interview process.

  • $25 per hour
  • Evening hours from 4:00 –7:00 PM
  • There is an opportunity to renew contracts based on program needs.

Fall Semester (10 sessions)
September 30 – December 16 (No class – October 14 & November 25)

Winter Semester (10 sessions)
January 13, 2026 – March 24, 2026 (No class – March 10)

Spring Semester (9 sessions)
April 14, 2026 – June 9, 2026
