Lunchroom/Playground Supervision and Instuctional Assistant Para Educator
This position is responsible for supervising and positively interacting with students during lunchtime and recess, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for approximately 1.5 hours/day. The other 5 hours/day will be spent in the classroom supporting the classroom teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to managing the responsibilities of providing an outstanding experience for a diverse student population, contributing to a positive school climate, and using restorative approaches to help students be engaged learners and problem solvers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Student Supervision:
Oversee students in the lunchroom and playground, ensuring their safety and well-being. - Interaction:
Interact positively with students, promoting respectful behavior and conflict resolution. - Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with school staff to manage student behavior and create a supportive environment. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families to maintain a positive climate. - Behavior Management:
Utilize restorative practices to address and resolve conflicts among students. Encourage positive social interactions and support students in developing problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Ability to supervise and engage with a diverse student population.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to high professional standards and a positive school culture.
- Experience or willingness to learn restorative practices for conflict resolution.
- Associated degree or 60 semester credits preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary:
Hourly Range: four lunch/playground hours-$, for instructional para hours $ Hourly placement is based on experience, as per district guidelines.
