About the Job Position Overview

The Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development, College of Education and Human Development,continually accepts resumes for teaching positions that may open upduring the academic year. Applications are reviewed as openings occur, and individual applicants are invited to interview whentheir skills or areas of expertise match a specific opening. Theseare temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions as Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per course basis.

Typically, these appointments are made semester by semester and employment is contingent on thecourse meeting its enrollment target. This posting is designed to establish a "pool" of instructors. Applicants will be selected fromthis pool on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Applications will not be acknowledged, but will be reviewed whensuch openings occur throughout the academic year.

Job Responsibilities Teaching/Instruction (90%)
  • Teach a course per semester at an undergraduate or graduate level on course topics such as:
    Comparative and International Development Education (CIDE), Education Policy and Leadership,Evaluation Studies, Higher Education, or Human Resource Development.
  • Prepare course materials including syllabus.
  • Grade student materials including exams, papers, presentations,and final exams.
  • Submit grades.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Student Advising (10%)
  • Respond to student inquires via email, phone, or inperson.
  • Evaluate student performance.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree relevant to the teaching assignment required for appointment as Teaching Specialist.
  • A Doctorate or terminal degree relevant to the teachingassignment required for appointment as Lecturer.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Ability to develop and deliver courses in ways that effectively account for a variety of diverse backgrounds, communities,identities, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong record of teaching in a university setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum concepts and processes.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $1,000 - $10,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience, course credit load, and numberof students enrolled in the course.
