The Department of Business and Economics is looking for adjunct faculty to teach Management Information Systems courses. This search will establish a "pool" of instructors if such openings occur during Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2026. Applicants may be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Build and teach courses such as Quantitative Methods for Business and Economics, Problem Solving for Business using Excel, Project Management, Database Management for Business (using SQL), Information Systems Projects and other Management Information Systems courses.
• Teach face‑to‑face classes twice or three times a week.
• Conduct appropriate classroom teaching, construct assignments, grade, hold office hours, respond to regular email, and prepare possible orientation the week before classes begin.
• Develop course syllabus, textbooks, and collaborate on shared office space (provided). Each course requires approximately 12‑15 hours a week.

The collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284, covers adjunct teaching at Augsburg.

• Subject to the collective bargaining agreement with SEIU, Local 284.
• $5,800 to $6,175 per undergraduate course
  * for the 2025‑26 academic year.
• Eligible for 2‑4% retirement contribution match.
• Tuition discount for employees and dependents.
• Transit pass discount.
• Not eligible for healthcare benefits.

* Course refers to a typical 4‑credit undergraduate or 3‑credit graduate course that has met minimum enrollment requirements.

Due to employment law and payroll regulations, only adjunct faculty who reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin may be employed; this restriction applies even to courses taught online.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Management Information Systems or related field.
• Understanding of current developments and experience in the field of MIS.
• Ability to engage a diverse student body.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience.
