Skate Instructor

Description

The Skate Instructor position is responsible for instructing and coaching ice skating at the Plymouth Ice Center.

• Ensure skating instruction is provided in accordance with the ISI progression program.
• Support a successful skating program that engages participants and contributes to program growth.
• Provide instruction to skaters of various ages and skill levels.
• Ensure lessons are organized, engaging and focused on proper skating techniques.
• Monitor the well-being and progress of all participants throughout lessons.
• Maintain a safe, supportive and positive environment for all skaters.
• Participate in strategic planning and program meetings.
• Maintain open and effective communication with the Skating Director, coaches, participants, parents and arena staff.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have successfully passed the skating level assigned to instruct.
• Must be able to demonstrate all skills required for the level assigned to teach.
• Must be available to work weekend hours.
• Must be detail-oriented and organized.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must demonstrate positive and effective communication skills with participants.
• Must understand, or be able to learn, effective teaching techniques and proper skill progression.
• Prior skating or teaching experience is preferred.

Seasonal, temporary and non-regular employees are not eligible for benefits.
