The Advanced Solar Field Service Technician in the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division performs tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites near Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards while always maintaining safety and professionalism. These are local sites - candidates should reside within 50 miles of the Minneapolis, Minnesota areas.
CoreResponsibilities
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of Solar Utility and Sub-Station equipment.
- Responsible for documentation including, but not limited to, work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules.
- Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with help and use of digital multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.
- Test and troubleshoot installed solar equipment and ensure proper working order.
- Maintain a strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Work independently as well as in a group environment.
- Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per the PEARCE Renewables Employee Handbook and insurance requirements.
Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.
Core Experience- 2+ years of experience in Commercial/Industrial operations and maintenance (O&M) on solar power plants.
- Experience in preventative maintenance of Solar Utility equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical experience with troubleshooting and installation skills.
- Experience with Inverters, Tracker Systems, or Sub-Stations equipment (TMEIC/SMA/Sungrow/Nextracker/ATI, etc.).
- Initiative to raise and resolve issues onsite.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into apprentices.
- High aptitude and strong work ethic.

- Must live within approximately 50 miles of the Minneapolis, Minnesota areas.
- Be exposed to ambient temperatures while working outdoors.
- Lift and move equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds).
- Employment may require working on weekends and holidays, including an "on call" service availability via telephone/text message.
- Travel requirements up to 25% of the time.
$30.00-$42.00 hourly/DOE
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
