Job Description

An Estimator – Air Distribution Specialist (ADS) serves as a technical estimator and product expert focused on supporting the sale and successful application of air distribution equipment. ADS team members perform project takeoffs, select and price equipment, prepare detailed submittals, process orders, and provide technical support to engineers, contractors, and internal MMS teams. This role partners closely with outside sales engineers and other sales support team members.

An ADS ensures accurate, timely, and customer-centric support throughout pre-sale and post-sale phases of air distribution projects.

Responsibilities
  • Estimating & Takeoffs
  • Perform detailed takeoffs from plans and specifications for air distribution equipment.
  • Select appropriate products and configure equipment based on design requirements, performance criteria, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Develop accurate and competitive pricing for comprehensive customer quotes.
  • Submittal & Documentation
  • Prepare complete and professional submittal packages in accordance with project specifications and MMS standards.
  • Interpret and incorporate mechanical drawings, specifications, addenda, and project notes into submittal content.
  • Maintain organized project documentation to support smooth handoffs to sales teams, project managers, and customers.
  • Order Support & Coordination
  • Process orders for air distribution equipment.
  • Assist with project management duties including order tracking and logistics.
  • Technical & Application Support
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for air distribution product selections, installation considerations, and application best practices.
  • Answer technical questions from consulting engineers, contractors, and MMS team members.
  • Work closely with outside sales engineers on technical positioning of products.
  • Continuous Learning & Contribution
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of air distribution products, codes, standards, and manufacturer offerings.
  • Participate in training sessions and leverage manufacturer resources to enhance technical expertise.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, internal processes, and customer experience.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support team and customer success.
Experience and Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in HVAC, engineering, business, or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior HVAC industry experience preferred, especially in estimating, design, drafting, or technical support roles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, air distribution fundamentals, and HVAC concepts—or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret specifications and drawings accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for equipment selection and configuration.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with engineers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, or manufacturer selection tools proficiency preferred.
