The Electrical/Electronics Technician
, in Toro’s Landscape and Contractor Group, is responsible for providing electrical and electronic support by assembling, modifying, testing, prototyping, and documenting electrical and electronic systems for the Battery, Systems, and Harness teams in the Power Systems Center of Excellence, focused on electrified products for The Toro Company.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Construct and test prototype battery packs (Li-Ion, etc.), chargers, electrical and electronic components and systems, and finished products and machines.
  • Construct and test prototype harnesses and validate functionality in machines or stationary equipment.
  • Assemble and rework circuit board assemblies (soldering, reflow, and inspection).
  • Work independently and under the supervision and direction of others.
  • Identify, order and inventory parts and assemblies and test equipment.
  • Coordinate test plan logistics with internal and external test facilities.
  • Create design and test documentation, updates, and work instructions.
  • Manage Electronics Lab, order parts, maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab, and track test equipment.
  • Test electrical components, systems, and PCBs using power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, CAN bus analysis tools, signal generators, etc.
  • Other work as assigned.
What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent 2-year electrical/electronic technical degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as an electrical or electronics technician OR Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (or equivalent) with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in related electrical or electronics role.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in soldering, desoldering, and rework of circuit board assemblies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electronic schematics, wire harness drawings, and other electrical system documentation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities of electrical systems or electronics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication in English, collaboration and teamwork skills, flexibility, self-motivation, dependability, and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated ability and self-motivation to learn new skills, technologies, procedures, test equipment, techniques, and software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to follow safe working procedures.
  • Familiarity with basic terminal crimping tools.
  • Must be able to work independently and under the direction of others—as a self-starter and in a team environment supporting cross-functional staff members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of battery technology and safe-handling procedures is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronic components, power, analog, digital is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical harness design, component specification and ordering, and harness construction experience is preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting vehicle electrical systems and electronics is preferred.
  • Experience with printed circuit board layout and schematic entry is preferred.
  • Experience with using programming tools for microcontrollers is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to rework fine pitch SMT and BGA components is preferred.
