This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role- Member of an Advanced Materials and Transportation division‑wide, cross‑functional team that will develop product concepts and commercialize new products aligned to customer needs from around the world.
- Develop a strong understanding of our customer/market needs, especially as it relates to regulatory standards (i.e. IATF) and critical to quality metrics.
- Collaborate with research teams from Corporate Research and Business Labs to develop new product capabilities to meet the global evolving transportation market.
- Lead and support cross‑functional product improvement projects (NPI, CMP) leveraging Agile methodologies that will enable accelerated business growth and further our competitive position in the marketplace.
- Work on high impact, cross‑functional teams that will work on multiple product families.
- Create and protect 3M intellectual property through the filing of new patent applications.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start).
- Five (5) years of product development, process engineering, and/or research laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Strong communication skills, proven ability to develop and maintain productive networks within the 3M technical community with demonstrated ability to influence.
- Collaborative interpersonal style with experience in leading project teams.
- Demonstrated history of significant contributions to an organization through growth initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in adhesives and materials science, adhesive formulation, characterization and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in regulated product categories with expertise in product risk assessments, product safety, and product reliability.
- Experience leading New Product Introduction projects resulting in commercialization of new products.
- Masters’s degree or higher is a plus.
- Seven (7) years of product development, process engineering, and/or research laboratory experience is a plus.
This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
TravelMay include up to 10% domestic travel.

Compensation & Benefits OverviewApplicable to US Applicants Only:
The expected compensation range for this position is $141,150 - $172,517, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
