Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mid-level Environmental Scientist III to support our Minnesota Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Team.
We are seeking candidates who will be able to immediately contribute to the successful delivery of projects and promote growth in existing and new markets, specifically related to environmental compliance work, with opportunities to support additional projects.
This full-time position within our Environmental team will assist in coordinating and conducting environmental projects related to environmental compliance and supporting groundwater treatment operations. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate project experience, require a strong focus on health and safety, and work collaboratively in a high-performance team.
Job Summary /Responsibilities:- Conduct on‑site inspections of industrial, commercial, and municipal facilities to evaluate compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., air, water, waste, hazardous materials).
- Review permits, plans, records, and monitoring data to verify adherence to regulatory requirements and permit conditions.
- Identify violations, non‑conformances, and environmental risks, document findings through clear, detailed inspection reports.
- Collect environmental samples (air, water, soil, waste) using standardized protocols and ensure proper chain‑of‑custody.
- Investigate citizen complaints, spill reports, or alleged violations and determine appropriate enforcement or corrective actions.
- Communicate findings and compliance requirements to facility representatives; provide technical guidance on corrective measures and best practices.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to support enforcement actions, follow‑up inspections, or compliance reviews.
- Maintain inspection records, databases, and tracking systems to ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting.
- Interpret and apply relevant regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, EPCRA) to inspection activities and compliance determinations.
- Participate in compliance assistance outreach, training sessions, or stakeholder meetings to promote environmental stewardship and regulatory awareness.
